Trash to Treasure

I have been looking for a good way to organize my jewelry for a while now. I have jewelry boxes and bags and cases...

We're not talking about the crown jewels here, but I do like my collection and have been trying to make a better effort to buy less and start wearing what I have. This means the first step is actually knowing what I have.

I've looked at traditional pieces, but they aren't my style. Too new and frou frou.

I really want this old chrome pharmacy cabinet , but it's not in my budget.

Then I came across this on Saturday.
I thought it might be a pie safe, but there is no ventilation. Maybe it held records?
I'm not sure, but for $15 it looked like a candidate to become the new home for my jewelry.

Next weekend I will finish making the missing shelves and buy some more compartmentalized trays, and once I can settle on the design, I'll likely monogram the door, but for now I'm happy just to have my necklaces no longer mixing with my drill bits and screws (yes, I keep these in the bathroom).

  1. Love it, great idea for jewerly. The cabinet is called a music cabinet used for holding the old sheet music. I own 2, one holds my CD's, the other gives us each a shelf for our laptops.
